Today's discussion: Is Gatsby a good person or not?
Many students argue that Gatsby is not even "great" and is selfish, but my group and I think he is actually not a bad person. Yes, many say all the parties he makes and his generosity can be fake and that he does it so people can just talk of what a nice person he is, but some of his actions actually demonstrate he is kind. What if he actually means everything he does for people and doesn't just do it to increase his ego? For instance, when he was younger he helped save Dan Cody and it never mentioned that he did it for a reward, he was just doing the right thing and trying to be helpful. Also, I don't think he is selfish because he shares many of his things with others and he clearly stated that everything he owns is for Daisy. Personally, I think a selfish person would just worry for themselves and wouldn't do that, yet it seems that Gatsby would give it all for the person he loves.

MUSIC AS LITERATURE
Music is its own way of communicating and can be considered to be literature. Music is like another language but ,just like any other writings, texts, poems, and novels, songs have a purpose and message for the world. If you pay close attention to what the songs they, they mostly all have a theme and tone that can be very significant too, it just depends how you interpret the lyrics, notes, and rhythm. People can get many things out of just one song and be connected with people all over the world. Music is created by writers expressing their feelings or what they are going through. There are not many differences between a novel, poem, and songs. The only difference is the way they are expressed; A song can have many rhythms and sounds, while the others are just written for us to read. However, these 3 forms of literature all convey a strong message to the audience. Poetry can be vey similar to music. They, both, have rhymes, verses, and allow us to see the author's emotions through their work, but in songs the theme is more direct, while in poetry we usually have analyze it and try to figure out what they mean. So, maybe they all are seen differently , but , without a doubt, all of them are a form of literature!

HELLO 2017
As a person, I have grown in many ways since January 2016. I have been through many situations that, now, have made me more understanding, grateful, and independent. I learned that not everything might come out the way we expected or how we wanted them to, but I also learned to accept everything for how it is. Throughout the school year, I also gained plenty of knowledge and learned many new, useful skills. There are many things that we learn everyday and can put in use in our everyday lives. Without a doubt, it was an unforgettable year with many teachings, but I am now stronger and ready to begin this new journey.
